Brownies....yummmmm

Once again, I can't go to a gathering with just a pan of brownies. I can't. I have to fancy them up in some way. Again, this may sound "snobby" and I promise I am not!
I took these to my husband's g-ma and g-pa's house for our yearly get-together. Usually I make some sort of cake or cupcakes, but this year brownies were on my mind.

I just baked a batch of box mix brownies.

In my opinion, the brand of brownie mix you buy really does make a difference.

I lined the pan with foil and sprayed it with non-stick cooking spray. When they were done and completely cooled, I lifted them out of the pan and used a glass to cut them into circles.

I took the circle brownies and put them in regular size cupcake liners.

Then I took a regular can of chocolate frosting and heated it in the microwave for like 30 seconds I think.
{You should probably make sure all the foil is off the rim first.}
I just spooned the frosting over the tops of the cupcakes and ta-da! When they were set I put them in cake box (cause yes, I have those on hand along with the cake boards).

I used mini cupcake liners and the leftover brownie parts to make the mini ones.

This was the best pic I had of the finished ones. My daughter came in with a funny look on her face, like "Why is mom taking pictures of brownies?"

I think they needed something else on top. Like chopped peanut butter cups or maybe if they weren't traveling 2 hours away some whipped topping, ooooo, or caramel. Wow, I think I better stop now.

Tie Onesies

I can't go to a baby shower with only a store bought gift. I just can't. I know it's silly, and it's kinda snobby, but I just have to take something handmade. On top of that, I don't know exactly what gift I'm gonna give until I walk out the door with it. {Even then it's can still be iffy. I've been known to try and leave parts of a gift in the car before.} I usually, always wait until the last minute.
This past weekend I subjected my family to the whole gift giving process. A baby shower gift made the very morning of the shower. I started off with a very late night and very early morning. {Not a good day this makes!} Then stressing over time, to go or not to go, kiddos moods, and my mood.....

Anywhoo....

This is what I made

I'd seen these at a craft show that my mom and I and a friend of mine go to every year. I looked around and found a pattern that I tweaked for the tie.

And, they were a big hit!

I was in too big of a hurry to take all the tutorial pictures and stuff. I may or may not do that later. I'm sure I'll be making more considering how many women at our church are preggo!
